Working with Templates
A template determines the basic structure for a document and
contains document settings such as margins, placement of graphics
or text, and fonts. ALL-STATE LEGAL has designed document
templates for use with some of our products such as labels
and laser compatible brochure paper. The templates are compatible
with Microsoft Word 97 and 2000, and WordPerfect for Windows.
Downloading Templates
It is important to save the template files you download in the same
directory as your other MSWord or WordPerfect templates to be able
to access and use as a template.
Normally, standard templates can be found in the following directories.
In Microsoft Word 2000: C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
In WordPerfect 8: C:\Corel\Suite 8\Template\Customer WP Templates\Custom WP Templates
You will have to determine where the template files are stored on your
computer's configuration in order to save and use them correctly. You
can locate your existing templates by using the Windows Search
feature. MSWord templates end with the extension .DOT, so you should
search for files by typing *.dot in the file name field. WordPerfect
templates end with the extension .WPT, so search for files by typing
*.wpt in the file name field.
Save the templates in the template directory by typing in the path
indicated above beginning with C:\, depending on the program used, and
end the file with \name you select and .dot for MSWORD and .wpt for
WordPerfect.
To use the template you have downloaded, you select File, then New from
the menu bar of your word processor. Simply, select the template and
begin using it.

Word Instructions: when the form opens, the cursor is in the first field
of the form. As you complete each field, you can tab to each of the
other fields to complete them. You can save the document by naming it
just as you would any other document. This template is protected, or
"locked" to prevent accidental changes. If you'd like to customize the
label you need to unlock it first.
Select Tools from the menu
Select Unprotect Document.
After you make changes you can protect the document again.
Select Tools from the menu
